International monetary cooperation
As an open economy, Switzerland benefits from an efficient and stable international monetary system. The Swiss National Bank contributes to international monetary cooperation by participating in various international institutions and bodies. It is a member of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the bank of central banks. The SNB, jointly with the Federal Department of Finance, represents Switzerland in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and on the Financial Stability Board (FSB). In addition, the SNB participates in the General Arrangements to Borrow (GAB) and New Arrangements to Borrow (NAB).
